The challenge starts on 1st March and lasts for 31 days.
Each day a new sentence or phrase will be posted on Facebook (HERE) and on this language
blog.
This sentence will contain a word or a short phrase and here is what you’re
asked to do about it
1.
Read the sentence / phrase out loud.
2. Make
sure you understand what it means. (I’ll be helping you with any tricky vocabulary and grammar.)
3. Write
a sentence using the selected word. (You can write as many sentences as you wish.)
4. Say
your sentence out loud.
(You may want to check your pronunciation with a Polish friend or use Google
Translate to hear it there.)
I’d like to encourage you to actively participate in this challenge. Reading
or listening will give you only passive knowledge. You must produce the
language to be able to remember vocabulary and different structures. Without
saying or writing things, you will most likely soon forget what you've read. It is best if
the sentences you produce are relevant to you. This will increase the
likelihood of you using them in real life conversations.
Everyday contact with Polish through commenting and saying your sentences
out loud will develop into a habit. After 31 days you will not only learn 31
new words or phrases and see them in different contexts, but you’ll also be
able to produce sentences using them. What happens next? On 1st April I will share with you a text in Polish. You’ll be able to read it without difficulties and have a discussion about it in Polish with your fellow challenge participants. I have designed this challenge for Elementary to Intermediate learners of Polish but learners at all levels are welcome to take part. I’d also like to encourage you to read sentences posted by others and to correct them in case there are any errors.
Zapraszam i powodzenia! J
Marzanna
